AFC Henley in the Community
The AFC Henley Football in the Community project was launched in association with local professional, Andy Homent. Andy has been coaching football at a wide range of levels for 10 years. He couples his role as Coach Development Manager with the running of the AFC Henley in the Community scheme. In his role within the club’s football development team, Andy works alongside Shelley Strange, Mini-Soccer Centre Director and Lead Club Coach, in spearheading the progression and development of all the players and coaches in the club.

The community project was born out of the huge success of our Saturday morning Mini-Soccer Centre, which provides coaching for all children aged 4 to 8 years old. It now includes a girls-only section for the first time. The MSC has grown at a steady pace since it began 10 years ago and is continuing to experience record numbers with regular attendances of 80+. These children go on to form the future teams and continue to progress on their football journey under the guidance of our FA/UEFA qualified club coaches.

What we provide
We have a wide variety of activities aimed at the community and we are continuing to develop more. We currently deliver:
After School clubs
We deliver a 10-week after school club programme for a variety of schools in the town. These are priced at £30 for the whole term. Just £3 a week! For this, your child will receive a structured coaching programme made up of fun practices and games. These courses run in conjunction with the school term and can be delivered to all age groups within the school. We currently have courses running at Badgemore and Trinity primary schools and we are looking to begin in many more for the 2013/2014 school year.
We run holiday camps in every half term and holiday break. These are 2- or 3-day camps and can be attended by all children aged 4-11 years old. We have seen numbers grow every term with over 60 children attending our camps over two days. They run from 10am-3pm and are delivered on the Jubilee Park Astroturf next to Tesco’s or on the grass pitches adjacent. The camps are very flexible with options for mornings only or the full 2/3 day course. Our prices are extremely competitive, ranging from whole mornings to a full 3-day camp.
We provide birthday parties for many of the children within the club and this is a service that is open to all members and non-members. Football parties are approximately 2 hours in duration. This includes 1.5 hours of football, including fun games and matches. Also included is use of the clubhouse afterwards where you can provide refreshments for the children in attendance. Prices start at just £90 and for this you have use of the club pitches, goals, equipment and clubhouse. Extra coaches and medals for the children can be provided at extra cost.
We are continuing to develop the community project and are in the planning stages, looking to provide many other services such as:
We look forward to announcing more information regarding these projects in the near future.
