£75,000 grant to AFC Henley from South Oxfordshire District Council

AFC Henley has been awarded a grant of £75,000 from South Oxfordshire D.C.’s  Community Investment Fund towards the cost of a new pavilion on the grass pitches at the club’s Reading Road ground.

The full cost is around £150,000. Additional funding will be sought from the Football Foundation, but there will still be a shortfall of at least £50,000, which the club hopes to make up from business sponsorship, donations from local organisations and fund-raising events.

Any interested sponsors/donors should contact Trevor Howell either on 01491 578850, or trevor.howell@lineone.net.

Financial support would be particularly welcome from those interested in the welfare of disadvantaged young people.

The new pavilion has been designed for younger users, comprising separate toilets for boys, girls and the disabled.

In addition there will be wheelchair access, wet and dry storage, kitchen facilities, shelter and a facilities room.

The building will complement the existing clubhouse sited across the road, which will be reserved primarily for match officials, older club members and adults.
