The club is very excited to announce the appointment of Marc Cresswell as our new Head of Coach Development.
Marc is a UEFA C qualified coach with many years of youth football coaching experience and combined with his professional work experience of developing and mentoring individuals and teams, he will be responsible for raising the quality of coach development at AFC Henley. Marc is clearly very passionate about football, not only is he the head coach of the recently formed U8 Hurricanes and a regular starter for the AFC Henley Veterans team, both his sons also play for the club!
The key purpose of the new Coach Development role is to enhance the AFC Henley coaching experience, and to provide additional ongoing support to all our volunteer coaches.
Ultimately the objective is to improve player development across all age groups though a higher standard of coaching. To achieve this, we want to provide our volunteer coaches with more external and internal training opportunities, better resources, enhanced support and to foster a strong coaching community.
Marc noted that ‘having better-supported coaches will lead to a more consistent, enjoyable, and developmental experience for all players, and that’s the driving force behind the implementation of this new role’.
Over the coming weeks and months, Marc will encourage all coaches to reach out with ideas, questions, or specific development needs and the club will be surveying the coaches for their feedback to help shape the framework for the new coach development plan.
