AFC Henley Hotshots came from behind to earn a hard-fought 3–2 victory over an impressive Soccerkids Avengers side.

The visitors began the match strongly, playing with confidence, physicality and plenty of encouragement from the sidelines. Their strengthened squad made the opening half particularly challenging for Henley, with Soccerkids competing well in a congested midfield and preventing the hosts from establishing their usual passing rhythm.

Lama was outstanding for Henley during this period, battling tirelessly in midfield and helping his team remain in the contest.

Soccerkids’ positive start was rewarded when they opened the scoring with a well-taken breakaway goal. They continued to defend with determination and deservedly carried their lead into half-time.

Henley responded strongly after the interval and began to find more space with their passing. The equaliser followed an excellent move down the left involving Freddie and Sam. After driving into the penalty area, Sam crossed for Max, who guided a superb one-touch finish into the top-left corner.

With the scores level, the match opened up and both teams continued to compete for every ball. Henley moved ahead after Sam was fouled just outside the penalty area. Bailey’s free kick was blocked by the Soccerkids wall, but he reacted quickly to strike the rebound, which took a deflection before finding the net.

Henley added a third following another well-constructed attack. Riley’s kick was cleverly headed on by Bailey, releasing Sam through on goal. Despite being forced into a very tight angle, Sam produced an excellent finish, striking the ball with power and accuracy into the side netting.

Soccerkids showed tremendous character and continued pushing until the final whistle. Their persistence was rewarded with a late penalty, which reduced Henley’s advantage to a single goal and created a tense finish.

The Hotshots remained composed during the closing moments to secure the victory, but Soccerkids can take great credit for their performance. They started strongly, competed throughout and ensured this was an entertaining and closely fought match between two well-matched teams.
