4. Club Welfare Officer

The role of the Club Welfare Officer is to:

-Ensure everyone in the club knows their name and how to make contact

-Refer any club child protection or poor practice concerns to the County FA CWO

-Seek advice from The NSPCC Helpline if the County FA CWO is unavailable or in circumstances of child protection emergencies

-Seek advice from local Children's Services or the police in an emergency

-Encourage the club to discuss and implement The FA's Safeguarding Children Policy

-Encourage the club to utilise The FA's Safeguarding Guidelines on recruiting volunteers and always requesting and following up references

-Encourage the club to discuss and implement The FA's Safeguarding Children guidelines on the use of images and organising travel, trips and tournaments

-Implement and enforce Criminal Record Checks (CRCs) via the FA CRB for the following: Welfare Officers, Coaches, Managers, Referees and First Aiders with unsupervised access to children

-Support the club in identifying anyone else whose role requires a Criminal Record Check

-Promote, support and encourage the benefits of the safeguarding children education and awareness programme.

-Use the online Safeguarding Children Service to stay up to date regarding the status of club members
